What are the best times that you can remember with Tumalo: There are so many I cannot even remember all of them. My favorite day is the day I met Michelle…I had a very sick mare and was told her ranch I might want to look into. I did not call first. I just showed up. I drove into the property, walked up to the barn. There was a young woman standing there that looked like the help. She was dusty, dirty with horsehair all over. I came through the barn door and she said “can I help you?” I said, “I have a sick mare and I need to move her with someone who can take care of her” She slowly turned to me, looking straight at me like a small John Wayne and spoke, “Well, you’ve come to the right place”. It was like “where have you been?” From that moment on my joy with my horses (starting with my sick mare named Kitty) has been some of the most challenging and fun times in my life. She is a great teacher, lover of animals and truly a good friend. We’re lucky to have her.
What do you look forward to in the year 2008 show season: Learning even more than I did last year. Getting my groove back when riding. Watching the kids’ blossom on their horses and just having plain fun. Watching Michelle rise to every occasion with style and grace as usual.
How did you feel the first time you won your first ribbon: I haven’t yet, though I did get high point in my age class my first show. It was amazing.
It is FUN winning.
Why did you choose Tumalo Cascade: I think it was more than a choice…I think I was guided by something else. Something beyond me and my horse. It has changed my life with my love of horses. I love every second I spend at the barn and look everyday how I can spend more time. It came along when I needed it. My sick mare has fully recovered and just gave birth to a beautiful foal. In less than one year. I now have 3 more horses in my life and it just doesn’t get any better than this.
